DAY 01
Denpasar • A Night in Bali
Arrive in Denpasar, Bali, for the hotel night that opens the expedition. Give yourself time to recover from the international journey and prepare for life aboard ship, keeping travel documents and essentials readily accessible for embarkation. This first evening provides a gradual transition into the voyage. Tomorrow the route leaves Bali behind, beginning a long passage through Indonesia’s islands before continuing into Papua New Guinea and concluding in Australia.
OVERNIGHT · Bali hotel
DAY 02
Denpasar • Embarkation
Join Heritage Adventurer in Denpasar and settle into the cabin that will be your base for the coming weeks. Attend the introductions and briefings that explain the expedition arrangements, then familiarise yourself with the ship before departure. Find a place from which to watch the coastline change as the voyage begins. The first destination is Sumbawa, opening a route that combines familiar island names with much less frequently encountered shores.

DAY 03
Sumbawa • First Island Landfall
Sumbawa is the first island landfall after Bali. Join the shore programme described by the expedition team and take time to appreciate the island as a destination in its own right, rather than simply a stepping stone toward Komodo. The approach by sea gives you an overview of the coastline before the day’s exploration. Returning aboard, compare your first impressions with the route ahead as the ship continues eastward.

DAY 04
Komodo National Park • Wild Island Country
Reach Komodo National Park for a day in one of Indonesia’s best-known island landscapes. Follow the expedition team’s confirmed programme and the instructions of park guides during any wildlife activity. The pleasure here lies in observing the landscape and its inhabitants carefully, allowing the guides to manage distance and pace. Between excursions, the ship provides a comfortable base from which to appreciate the islands before the route continues toward Kodia.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
Komodo dragon • Komodo Island
DAY 05
Kodia Island • A Lesser-known Shore
Kodia Island is the next call on this sailing’s route, adding a less familiar name between Komodo and Wakatobi. The expedition team will explain the available activities and practical landing arrangements on board. Approach the day with curiosity and time to observe the setting as it unfolds from sea level. Specific excursions remain dependent on the operator’s detailed departure programme, rather than a fixed list of stops borrowed from another sailing.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
DAY 06
Wakatobi National Park • Water Takes Centre Stage
The voyage reaches Wakatobi National Park, shifting attention toward the marine setting. Follow the activities announced for the day, with the expedition team selecting suitable arrangements for the conditions. Take time to observe the colours and patterns of the water and coastline instead of treating the visit as a hurried stop. Back aboard Heritage Adventurer, there is a pause to review the day before the route continues toward Buru.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
Wakatobi • coral reef and sea turtle
DAY 07
Buru • Beyond the Familiar Route
Buru marks the next stage of the passage through Indonesia. Join the expedition programme and listen to the interpretation that helps place this island within the wider journey. Arriving by ship offers a different perspective from a conventional resort stay, with the coastline introducing the destination before the day’s activities begin. Later, return to your cabin and the familiar surroundings aboard, while the next island, Seram, waits ahead.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
DAY 08
Seram • Another Island Perspective
Seram provides another island chapter before the voyage reaches Misool and Raja Ampat. The expedition team will outline the day’s exploration, taking account of local arrangements and the conditions encountered. Give the shore and its surroundings time to make their own impression, noticing how this call differs from Buru. Between activities, enjoy the ease of returning to the same ship while the landscapes beyond its decks continue to change.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
DAY 09
Misool • Islands Within Islands
Arrive at Misool, a distinct stop before the two days allocated to Raja Ampat. The island setting rewards attention from the deck as well as during the expedition activities, with shifting light changing the appearance of the coast through the day. Follow the team’s arrangements and leave room for the unhurried moments between outings. This stage introduces a longer exploration of the island region rather than a single passing visit.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
DAY 10
Raja Ampat • First Island Perspectives
Begin the first of two days in Raja Ampat. The longer allocation gives the expedition team flexibility to shape the programme around conditions and local opportunities, rather than compressing the visit into a brief call. Follow the activities announced on board and take time to absorb the changing island setting. The expedition leader chooses the landing sites and their order, responding to sea conditions and opportunities encountered during your stay.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
Raja Ampat • island encounters
DAY 11
Raja Ampat • A Second Day Among the Islands
Continue exploring Raja Ampat for a second day, allowing another perspective on the islands before the ship moves toward Manokwari. The expedition leader determines the order of outings across this two-day stay, so today complements the first day with fresh perspectives and time to appreciate the setting. Between activities, pause on deck and compare the views and colours encountered so far. Return aboard for the next stage toward the Arfak Mountains region.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
Raja Ampat • Piaynemo island scenery
DAY 12
Manokwari & the Arfak Mountains • A Change of Scene
Manokwari and the Arfak Mountains introduce a different geographical focus after the island waters of Raja Ampat. Follow the day’s confirmed excursion arrangements, with the expedition team advising on practical preparation and suitable footwear. The contrast is part of the journey’s appeal: each successive region adds another perspective on Indonesia. After the scheduled exploration, return aboard as the route continues toward the marine environment of Cenderawasih.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
DAY 13
Cenderawasih Marine Park • A Day on the Water
Cenderawasih Marine Park is today’s destination, returning the programme’s focus to the water after Manokwari and the Arfak Mountains. The expedition team will explain the activities available and how local conditions affect them. Allow time to appreciate the setting without assuming any particular wildlife encounter is guaranteed. As the day draws to a close, the voyage continues toward Biak and Rusbasbedas, the next paired islands on the published route.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
DAY 14
Biak & Rusbasbedas • Two Island Calls
Biak and Rusbasbedas share today’s place in the expedition route. The team will organise the practical sequence of activities around local circumstances, introducing two island settings within the same day. Travelling from one floating base makes this a comfortable way to experience successive destinations without repeatedly changing hotels. Observe the approaches by sea and use the intervals aboard to put the day’s impressions into the wider context of the voyage.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
DAY 15
Liki • A Quiet Island Chapter
Liki Island offers another distinct call as the journey approaches the end of its Indonesian section. Join the expedition team’s arranged activities and take time to listen to the context provided for the visit. A destination encountered for the first time often rewards a patient approach, with the experience emerging through observation rather than a checklist. Afterwards, return aboard for the passage toward Jayapura and the next stage of the route.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
DAY 16
Jayapura • The Eastern Indonesian Coast
Reach Jayapura for the final scheduled Indonesian call before the programme continues into Papua New Guinea. Follow the day’s expedition arrangements and any ship-directed formalities associated with the onward passage. This is also a chance to reflect on how the journey has changed since departure from Bali, through successive islands and marine regions. The following day turns attention toward the Sepik River, introducing a different setting for the final exploration.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
DAY 17
Sepik River • A River Journey
The Sepik River programme brings the voyage into Papua New Guinea and changes the emphasis from island coastlines to a river environment. Follow the expedition leader’s arrangements for this call, with activities shaped by the conditions and local access. Take time to appreciate the contrast with the preceding days at sea. This is the final full expedition day before disembarkation in Madang and the onward charter flight to Cairns.
OVERNIGHT · On board Heritage Adventurer
Sepik River • life along the water
DAY 18
Madang • Across to Cairns
Disembark in Madang and continue on the programme’s charter flight to Cairns. Keep documents and essential belongings ready for the transfer from ship to air travel, and coordinate onward arrangements with the confirmed charter timetable. The journey finishes in Australia after linking Bali, the islands of eastern Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Allow time for the final formalities rather than assuming an early arrival will permit a close onward flight connection.
