A considered journey through culture, landscapes and living history.
THE JOURNEY
A closer connection to the place.
Nine days reveal Lebanon through its coast, mountain communities and inland valleys. Beirut provides the main base, with two nights in Byblos breaking the rhythm and opening up the northern coast. Museum visits and ancient monuments sit alongside woodland, religious encounters and time overlooking the Mediterranean.
The route connects the Shouf and Barouk cedars with Jeita, Bkerke and Harissa, then continues through Byblos, Tripoli and Bcharreh. Returning to Beirut allows separate excursions to Baalbek, Anjar and Ksara, followed by Sidon and Tyre. This varied sequence keeps the original programme intact without attaching its optional onward extension.

DAY BY DAY
Your complete 9-day journey
DAY 01
Your First Night by the Mediterranean
Arrive in Beirut and meet your local representative for the transfer to your hotel. The first day remains centred on settling in, allowing the journey’s more active exploration to begin tomorrow. Check-in follows the hotel’s normal afternoon timing; travellers arriving early should arrange an additional previous night if they want a room immediately. Unpack, rest and take in the setting at your own pace without an added sightseeing commitment. Over the coming days, the route will connect Beirut with mountain towns, cedar reserves, the Bekaa Valley and the country’s historic coast.

DAY 02
Beirut, Layer by Layer
Visit the National Museum before exploring downtown Beirut, including the Roman Baths near the Grand Serail, Parliament area, Martyrs’ Square, Al-Omari Mosque and Saint George’s Cathedral. Continue along the Corniche to the Raouche Rocks, then visit the American University of Beirut’s archaeological museum. The day is a study in contrasts: museum collections introduce long historical perspectives, while the streets and waterfront show a living capital. Architecture, public spaces and the sea each offer a different way into its character. Return to your hotel for dinner after this varied introduction to Beirut.
OVERNIGHT · Beirut
Beirut — cathedral and mosque
DAY 03
Stone Villages and the Shouf Cedars
Travel into the Shouf to Deir el-Qamar, visiting the Kayssarieh area, Notre Dame Church and Fakhreddine Mosque. Continue to Beiteddine Palace, where courtyards, stonework and carefully composed spaces give the visit its focus. The afternoon carries you towards Barouk and its cedar reserve, changing the day’s atmosphere from built heritage to mountain woodland. Take time to notice the transition in light and terrain as the road rises away from Beirut. Return to the capital for dinner and another hotel night, with time to relax after a varied day in the highlands.
OVERNIGHT · Beirut
Beiteddine Palace
DAY 04
Caves, a Hilltop Sanctuary and Byblos
Begin with Jeita Grotto, exploring its cave setting according to the areas open on the day. Continue to Bkerke for the planned meeting with a Maronite Church representative and an introduction to the community’s history. At Harissa, visit Our Lady of Lebanon and enjoy the broad coastal views before lunch in the region. The afternoon journey continues to Byblos, where you settle into your hotel for dinner. This is a varied transfer day, combining natural formations, a religious encounter and a hilltop sanctuary rather than treating the drive as a simple relocation.
OVERNIGHT · Byblos
Harissa — basilica above the coastJeita Grotto
DAY 05
Byblos and the Northern Coast
Explore Byblos, including its archaeological area, castle, souks, cathedral and harbour, before continuing north to Tripoli. The day places two historic coastal cities alongside one another, encouraging attention to the different textures of their streets and waterfronts. In Tripoli, visit the citadel, harbour and the mosques and churches included in the guided programme. Allow time to look beyond the principal monuments at the ways buildings are used in the present. Return to Byblos for dinner and a second night, retaining the same base for this excursion rather than adding another hotel move.
OVERNIGHT · Byblos
Byblos — Mediterranean harbour
DAY 06
The Cedars and the World of Gibran
Leave Byblos for the cedar forest near Bcharreh, spending time among trees that have become one of Lebanon’s defining images. The mountain setting changes the pace after the busy coastal towns, inviting a quieter walk and closer attention to the woodland. Continue into Bcharreh to visit the Gibran Museum, where artworks, manuscripts and personal possessions introduce another side of the celebrated writer and artist. Afterwards, travel back to Beirut and settle into your hotel for dinner. The descent towards the coast offers a final change of landscape before the return to city life.
OVERNIGHT · Beirut
Cedars of God — Bcharreh
DAY 07
Baalbek, Anjar and the Bekaa Vineyards
Cross to the Bekaa Valley and explore Baalbek’s great archaeological complex. Give the monumental setting time to register before continuing to Anjar, where the regular arrangement of streets and buildings offers a distinct contrast in urban planning. The final visit is to Ksara, introducing the valley’s winemaking tradition alongside its ancient sites. This sequence makes a coherent day of three different experiences: large-scale architecture, a planned historic city and a working vineyard setting. Return to Beirut for dinner and your hotel night, with tasting arrangements and access following the day’s confirmed local programme.
Drive south to Sidon to visit the Sea Castle, Khan el-Franj and Soap Museum. Continue to Tyre for lunch, then explore the old island area, Roman baths, theatre remains and historic port. A walk along the Corniche brings the day back to the Mediterranean, whose presence connects these coastal places despite their different histories. The museum stop adds a useful domestic and commercial perspective alongside the larger monuments. Return to Beirut for dinner and your final overnight, ending the sightseeing sequence with the southern coast and its long relationship with trade and seafaring.
OVERNIGHT · Beirut
Sidon — Sea Castle
DAY 09
A Gentle Farewell to Lebanon
After breakfast, transfer to Beirut airport for your onward flight. The final day contains no additional visits, leaving the timing to follow your confirmed departure and allowing a straightforward conclusion to the journey. Keep essential documents and any delicate purchases close at hand for the transfer. Over the preceding days, the route has moved between coastal cities, cedar forests, religious places and the archaeology of the Bekaa Valley. Today is simply the point of departure, with any onward destination arranged separately; this journey concludes in Beirut without an additional international extension.

WHEN TO TRAVEL
Choose the right time for your journey.
Recommended months: April–May and October
Typical daytime temperatures: Approximately 21–26°C on the coast; cooler in the mountains
Typical night temperatures: Approximately 12–16°C on the coast; cooler inland
April–May and October are the best choices for comfortable cultural sightseeing. On the Beirut and Byblos coast, typical daytime highs are approximately 21–26°C, with nights around 12–16°C. The Bekaa Valley, cedar forests and mountain villages are cooler, especially after sunset, so bring an extra layer. Spring offers greener scenery, while October combines warm coastal afternoons with pleasant touring conditions. Rain remains possible, and higher mountain areas can retain snow into spring.
