Sunrise over Morocco’s Sahara dunes
Morocco · 13 DAYS / 12 NIGHTS

Morocco — Imperial Courtyards & Sahara Nights

A personally arranged journey through remarkable places, with time for the details that make them memorable.

THE JOURNEY

A closer connection to the place.

Begin beside the Atlantic and finish in Marrakesh, carrying the colours of Morocco between them: white stone, green palms, ochre earth and the deep blue of a garden wall. The journey alternates city discovery with time outside, where walking changes the scale of what you see.

Two nights in the Sahara separate the imperial-city chapters from the valleys of the Atlas. There is room for camel riding or a vehicle alternative, for artisans at work and for a quiet courtyard at the end of the day. The route is deliberately varied, with a different atmosphere at each overnight stop.

DAY BY DAY

Your complete 13-day journey

DAY 01

Welcome to Casablanca

Arrive at Casablanca Airport and transfer to the hotel. Keep the remainder of the day unhurried, allowing time to settle in before the journey north. This arrival day gives you space to recover from the flight and become comfortable in your surroundings. The more detailed visits begin tomorrow, so enjoy a gentle start without trying to fit another programme into the afternoon. Your first overnight provides a straightforward introduction to the country.

OVERNIGHT · Casablanca

DAY 02

Atlantic Light and Royal Rabat

Visit Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, then continue to Rabat. Explore Chellah above the remains of Sala Colonia, the Oudaya Kasbah and Mohammed V Mausoleum. Gather for the welcome dinner. The journey connects two contrasting urban settings, moving from Casablanca to the capital. Take time to appreciate the changing architecture and the relationship between each site and its surroundings before the evening brings everyone together over dinner.

DAY 03

Mosaics on the Road to Fes

Travel inland to Volubilis for a walking visit among its Roman remains and mosaics. Continue to Fes and settle into the riad. The open archaeological landscape makes a striking contrast with the enclosed streets and courtyards that await in Fes. Look closely at the surviving floor patterns and the layout of the remains, allowing the walking visit to introduce a different historical layer before continuing to the city.

OVERNIGHT · Fes

DAY 04

Inside the Medina

Explore Dar al-Makhzen’s gates, the mellah, South Borj viewpoint and a pottery workshop. Continue through the medina, its tannery, a madrasa, Qaraouyine Mosque and the Nejjarine woodworking museum. The day brings together monumental entrances, neighbourhood life and the practical skills of local makers. Allow the medina to reveal itself through its changing spaces and working streets, with the museum providing a quieter opportunity to look closely at craftsmanship.

OVERNIGHT · Fes

DAY 05

Across the Atlas to Erfoud

Cross the Middle Atlas through cedar country, stopping in Ifrane and Midelt. Descend through the Ziz Gorge and date-palm oasis towards Erfoud. This is a landscape day, with the journey itself forming an important part of the experience. Notice how the scenery changes between the mountain settlements, gorge and oasis, preparing you for the move into the Sahara after the overnight in Erfoud.

OVERNIGHT · Erfoud

DAY 06

The Dunes Become Home

Take 4WD vehicles into the Sahara and meet the desert crew. Continue towards camp by camel, on foot or by vehicle, with further time among the dunes after arrival. The choice of transport allows you to experience the approach in a way that suits you. Once at camp, slow down and appreciate the changing shapes and colours of the sand; there is no need to hurry away, with a second night planned here.

OVERNIGHT · Sahara desert camp

DAY 07

Music beneath the Stars

Explore from camp by camel, walking or 4WD. The afternoon allows a cooking demonstration, the card game ronda or quiet time. Gnaoua music accompanies the evening in camp. A full day without changing accommodation gives the desert a different rhythm. Choose the more active outings or a quieter afternoon according to your interests, then come together again as the evening music adds another dimension to the experience of staying among the dunes.

OVERNIGHT · Sahara desert camp

DAY 08

From Sand to Canyon

After sunrise, leave for Tinghir and walk in the Todra Gorge oasis. A fossil workshop stop in Erfoud is time-dependent. Continue through the Dades Gorge to Skoura. The transition from open desert to cultivated oasis and gorge country gives the day its variety. Enjoy the walking as a chance to appreciate the landscape at a slower pace before continuing by road to the next base in Skoura.

OVERNIGHT · Skoura

DAY 09

The Valley of Roses

Take the 4WD excursion through a dry wadi to Alemdoun. Walk among cultivated fields in the Valley of Roses and return through Kalaat M’Gouna. Resting at the hotel is an alternative. The outing focuses on the relationship between the valley landscape and its cultivated ground. Allow time to notice that contrast as you walk, before the drive completes the circuit. Those choosing the hotel alternative can enjoy an easier day without changing the overnight arrangements.

OVERNIGHT · Skoura

DAY 10

An Earthen Citadel, a Red City

Explore Ait Ben Haddou, then cross the High Atlas to Marrakesh. Walk through the souks and finish at Djemaa el Fna before dinner. The route links an earthen settlement with mountain scenery and the energy of a major city. By evening, the souks and square offer a vivid change from the valleys of the previous days, introducing Marrakesh through its streets before the more detailed visits tomorrow.

OVERNIGHT · Marrakesh

DAY 11

Palace Rooms and Hidden Tombs

Visit the Saadian Tombs and Bahia Palace. After lunch, choose a Moroccan cooking class, guided shopping, or a Jewish-history walk including a cemetery, a 15th-century synagogue and its small museum. Dinner is independent. The afternoon choices let you follow the aspect of the city that interests you most. They are alternatives, rather than a sequence of activities to complete, leaving room for a more personal experience after the shared historical visits.

OVERNIGHT · Marrakesh

DAY 12

Blue Walls and Garden Paths

Visit Majorelle Garden and its Berber museum. The afternoon is free, followed by the farewell dinner in the medina. The morning offers time to appreciate the garden and museum together before the programme becomes more flexible. Use the free afternoon at your own pace, then meet again for a final evening in the medina, reflecting on the cities, desert and mountain valleys of the journey.

DAY 13

Farewell to Morocco

Transfer to Marrakesh Airport for the onward journey. Today is reserved for departure, with the transfer arranged around the onward flight. Keep the final hours unhurried and allow sufficient time for the airport formalities.
