DAY BY DAY
Your complete 12-day journey
DAY 01
Cape Town • Welcome Aboard
Begin the voyage in Cape Town and board SH Diana, your base for the journey north along the Atlantic coast. Settle into your cabin and attend the embarkation arrangements before taking in the city’s mountain-and-ocean setting. Cape Town’s visits are scheduled across the opening two days, with the precise order confirmed locally. Guests arriving early may use the programme’s pre-cruise hotel arrangement; that additional night sits before the numbered sailing itinerary.
OVERNIGHT · On board SH Diana
DAY 02
Cape Town • Gardens and Mountain Views
Continue the Cape Town programme, which includes Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden and the views from Table Mountain when conditions allow. The opening two days share these activities, with the final order arranged around sailing and local circumstances. Alternative excursions may include the Winelands, Boulders Beach or a guided walk, rather than all being combined into one day. Enjoy the city’s varied setting before the ship begins its northbound coastal passage.

Cape Town
DAY 03
Saldanha Bay & Langebaan • The Lagoon Coast
Call in the Saldanha Bay and Langebaan area, where the lagoon and West Coast landscape provide a quieter contrast to Cape Town. Wetlands and tidal margins give the setting its character, inviting careful observation of the coast and its birdlife. Follow the ship’s selected shore arrangements for the visit. Back aboard, the journey turns toward open water, with tomorrow devoted to the sea passage north toward Namibia.
OVERNIGHT · On board SH Diana
DAY 04
At Sea • North Toward Namibia
Spend the day at sea as SH Diana continues toward Namibia. With no port call scheduled, there is time to enjoy the ship, review photographs and watch the changing light over the Atlantic. Attend the onboard lectures offered in the programme to add context to the coast ahead. The pause between landings is part of the rhythm of this journey, leading to tomorrow’s arrival at Lüderitz.

DAY 05
Lüderitz • Where Town Meets Desert
Arrive at Lüderitz, where the coastal town’s architecture stands against a much harsher desert backdrop. The published programme highlights the town and nearby Kolmanskop, whose abandoned buildings tell a very different story from the working harbour. Explore according to the ship’s confirmed shore arrangements, paying attention to the contrast between settlement and surrounding landscape. Return aboard for the next stage along Namibia’s coast toward Walvis Bay.

DAY 06
Walvis Bay • First Views of the Lagoon
Begin a two-day stay in Walvis Bay, a sheltered coastal setting shaped by its lagoon, wetlands and nearby desert. The programme offers a choice of activities, with the exact allocation between today and tomorrow confirmed on board. Marine outings around Pelican Point, dune excursions and visits to Mondesa are among the options. Select from the available arrangements rather than expecting every alternative to be included in a single outing.
OVERNIGHT · On board SH Diana
DAY 07
Walvis Bay • Another Coastal Perspective
A second day in Walvis Bay allows time for a different perspective on this meeting of sea and desert. Depending on your selected excursion, the focus may turn toward marine life, the dunes or local community experiences. Pelican Point and the lagoon remain central to the coastal setting. Activities are coordinated across both days, preserving flexibility while giving you more time here than a brief one-port stop would allow.

DAY 08
At Sea • Toward Angola
Leave the Namibian port sequence behind during a day at sea toward Angola. The open schedule allows you to enjoy the ship’s facilities and attend the interpretation offered by the expedition team. Watch the coastline and horizon whenever they come into view, or take time to read and organise the experiences recorded so far. Tomorrow’s destination, Ilha Baía dos Tigres, introduces another remote desert coast and a very different settlement story.
OVERNIGHT · On board SH Diana
DAY 09
Ilha Baía dos Tigres • An Abandoned Shore
Reach Ilha Baía dos Tigres, where abandoned buildings and desert scenery create a striking setting off Angola’s coast. Once connected to the mainland, the island’s separation helped shape the departure of its residents. The planned exploration depends on landing conditions, with the expedition team explaining what is practical on the day. Take time to consider the relationship between settlement and landscape before returning aboard for the passage to Namibe.
OVERNIGHT · On board SH Diana
DAY 10
Namibe • The Desert Gateway
Call at Namibe, also known as Moçâmedes, on Angola’s arid southern coast. The town’s colonial-era buildings and its position beside the desert provide the focus for the published programme. Explore through the ship’s confirmed arrangements, observing how the port and surrounding landscape sit together. The day adds a lived-in coastal setting after the abandoned island visited yesterday, before another stretch at sea leads toward the final arrival in Luanda.
OVERNIGHT · On board SH Diana
DAY 11
At Sea • The Final Passage
The last full day is spent at sea on the approach to Luanda. Enjoy an unhurried morning aboard and use the day to revisit the experiences that have marked the route, from Cape Town and Namibia’s lagoon coast to Angola’s desert shores. The onboard programme offers context and time for conversation. Prepare for tomorrow’s disembarkation while still enjoying the pleasure of travelling with the Atlantic beyond your window.
OVERNIGHT · On board SH Diana
DAY 12
Luanda • Farewell to the Atlantic Coast
Arrive in Luanda and disembark for the arranged airport transfer. The Angolan capital marks the end of the northbound journey from Cape Town through Namibia, rather than an additional full sightseeing day. Keep your onward flight aligned with the confirmed port and transfer schedule. After the final ship formalities, leave with a varied picture of this coastline, from sheltered lagoons and working ports to isolated islands and desert landscapes.
