Tea, Rivers & Living Bengal A Gentle Private Journey
This route is designed for travelers who want Bangladesh at a humane pace. Three-night stays in tea country and Sylhet create space for estate walks, forest natural history, village conversations and river journeys, while Dhaka, Sonargaon, Mainamati and Chattogram provide historical depth.
A private guide and vehicle remain with you on touring days. Midasia chooses the strongest appropriate accommodation, protects the schedule from excessive mileage and uses domestic flights where they materially improve comfort. Encounters are arranged respectfully and changed when community activity is not genuine.
Hand-crafted journeys. Seamless personal care.

Your Journey, Day by Day
12 days. A world of discovery.
Follow the journey from its personal welcome to the final farewell. Each day has its own character, with the route, visits and practical rhythm brought together below.
01
Welcome to the River Capital
Receive a personal airport welcome and private transfer. The day remains quiet after the international flight. In the evening, the guide introduces the journey and confirms preferences for walking, food, photography and local encounters over a relaxed welcome dinner.
02
Architecture, Art and the Old City
Explore the National Assembly exterior from a respectful viewpoint, then enter Old Dhaka for selected historic monuments, markets and the Buriganga waterfront. A private boat reveals the city’s connection to the river. Lunch is chosen for quality and hygiene, and the pace includes time away from the crowds.
03
Merchant Houses to Tea Country
Visit Panam Nagar and the folk-art traditions of Sonargaon before continuing toward Srimangal. The transfer is broken with lunch and comfort stops. Settle for three nights among tea landscapes, replacing a rushed circuit with a genuine sense of place.
04
Tea from Leaf to Cup
Walk through a working tea estate with an informed local host, learning about cultivation, labor, processing and the communities connected to the industry. Visit a factory only when operating and appropriate. After lunch, meet a craftsperson or take an easy village cycle or rickshaw route, adjusted to comfort.
05
Forest Paths and Wetland Life
Enter Lawachara National Park with a trained naturalist at the best wildlife hour. Walk a suitable forest trail and listen for primates and birds without promising sightings. Later, explore a wetland or village landscape by small boat when water conditions allow, returning to the same room for a restorative evening.
06
Sacred Landscapes of the Northeast
Travel to Sylhet through tea, rice and river scenery. Visit a shrine or cultural landmark with sensitivity to worship and local customs. Settle for three nights and take a gentle late-afternoon walk beside the Surma River or in a quieter neighborhood.
The lanes of Old Dhaka
07
Stone Rivers and Borderland Views
Travel toward Jaflong or an alternative scenic area selected for current access and road conditions. Explore river landscapes, village commerce and Khasi cultural context with a local specialist. Avoid intrusive photography and return in time for a relaxed evening at the same hotel.
08
A Day on the Water
Take a private country-boat journey through Ratargul or another wetland system when water levels make it worthwhile; the route changes seasonally. Meet fishing or farming communities through a prearranged host, enjoy a picnic or local lunch and keep the afternoon flexible for rest or a tea-garden walk.
09
Across Bengal to Mainamati
Fly or travel via Dhaka according to the best operating schedule, continuing to the Comilla region. If timing allows, begin the Mainamati archaeological story with its museum or selected monastic ruins. Overnight in the best appropriate regional accommodation.
10
Buddhist Archaeology and the Port City
Explore Mainamati’s archaeological landscape with a specialist before continuing to Chattogram. Arrive for two nights and take a carefully planned orientation around the port city’s commercial and multicultural history, avoiding sensitive industrial areas and excessive traffic.
11
Markets, Hills and Maritime Bengal
Visit a fish market or wholesale district early with the guide, then continue to a museum, hilltop viewpoint or shipbuilding-related cultural site where access is authorized. A hosted meal introduces regional flavors. The final afternoon remains open for a slower neighborhood walk or rest.
12
Departure with Personal Care
Fly privately assisted to Dhaka and connect onward with a generous buffer, or add a final Dhaka night when international timing requires it. Midasia coordinates luggage and the transfer between terminals, completing a gentle journey through river cities, tea country and eastern Bengal.
Journey Planning
Travel with the season.
November to March is recommended. December to February is cooler and particularly pleasant for walking. Tea landscapes remain green for much of the year, while the monsoon creates dramatic scenery but can disrupt roads, wetlands and flights.
The character of your journey
Private guiding and thoughtfully coordinated travel bring the route together. Accommodation and services follow the arrangements agreed for your departure.
