The Journey

A country of extraordinary contrasts.

Begin beside the Arabian Sea and finish among the memories of soaring mountain peaks. This fourteen-day journey connects Karachi’s coastal energy with the ancient Indus civilisation, the Mughal splendour of Lahore and the remarkable valleys of northern Pakistan.

In Sindh, encounter living Sufi traditions and the ruins of Mohenjo-daro. In Lahore, grand mosques, gardens and the old city reveal a different cultural world. Then fly north to Skardu, explore the lakes and cold desert of Baltistan, and follow the road into Hunza, where historic forts stand beneath extraordinary mountain horizons.

Rich in discovery. Personal in every detail.
The Midasia Difference

Every step of the way.

The luxury is in feeling looked after: an organised arrival, a guide who understands your interests, a driver ready for the next stage and a team keeping the journey connected. Our attention stays with the small details while you enjoy the places you came to discover.

02

A private journey

Your own guide and driver connect each chapter, from city visits to mountain roads, with personal attention throughout the planned route.

03

Care along the way

04

Local understanding

Your guide brings context to the monuments and communities, explains etiquette at shrines and mosques, and helps you see beyond the surface.

The Route

One journey.
Many worlds.

Karachi and Sindh introduce the sea, Sufi heritage and the Indus civilisation. Lahore and Islamabad connect the cultural heartlands before Skardu, Hunza and Gilgit open the mountain chapter.

Your Journey, Day by Day

Fourteen days.
A lifetime of stories.

From the welcome in Karachi to the farewell in Islamabad, each chapter reveals another side of Pakistan. Three domestic flights connect the longer stages; local guides and private road transfers bring the places in between to life.

01

A personal welcome to Karachi

Your journey begins at Jinnah International Airport, where your tour guide and chauffeur welcome you to Karachi. Transfer to Marriott Hotel Karachi, settle into your room and take time to relax after the flight. Your local team introduces the days ahead and helps you find your feet in Pakistan’s energetic coastal city.

The afternoon remains free to explore Karachi, at your own pace. There is time to ease into the city before dinner at Do Darya, where the Arabian Sea provides the setting for the opening evening of your journey. Return to the hotel for your first night in Pakistan.

02

Karachi: faith, the sea and the story of a nation

Begin your guided exploration at the Shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi, one of Karachi’s best-known places of devotion. Your guide introduces the significance of the shrine and the respectful customs of visiting an active religious site. From here, continue to Clifton Beach for a different view of the city, where Karachi meets the Arabian Sea.

The National Museum adds historical context to the journey before a visit to the exterior of the Mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Its monumental setting introduces the founder of Pakistan and the country’s modern story. Return to Marriott Hotel Karachi after a day that brings together the spiritual, cultural and coastal character of the city.

03

Into Sindh, following the Sufi tradition

Depart Karachi by road and follow the Indus Highway, the N-55, towards Sehwan and Larkana. The city gradually gives way to the landscapes of Sindh, opening the next chapter of the journey. Your chauffeur and guide coordinate the road day, with stops arranged around the route and your comfort.

At Sehwan, visit the famous shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. This is an opportunity to understand a living place of pilgrimage through the interpretation of your local guide, taking time to appreciate its atmosphere while respecting worshippers. Continue towards Larkana and settle into Sambara Inn for the night, ready for tomorrow’s encounter with the ancient Indus civilisation.

04

Mohenjo-daro: a window into an ancient world

Explore Mohenjo-daro, the UNESCO World Heritage site that forms one of the most memorable historical chapters of this journey. Walk through the excavated ruins with your guide, visiting the stupa area and the Great Bath. The layout of the remains helps bring the scale and organisation of this ancient settlement into focus.

Continue to the on-site Mohenjo-daro Museum, connecting objects and interpretation with the ruins you have just explored. Afterwards, begin the road journey back to Karachi. This is a substantial travel day, combining the archaeological visit with the return drive. Your overnight stay is once again at Marriott Hotel Karachi.

05

Lahore: the splendour of the Mughal city

Fly from Karachi to Lahore and transfer to Nishat Hotel, with time to freshen up before your introduction to the city. Begin with Lahore Museum, Lahore Fort and the monumental Badshahi Mosque, with your private guide. Your guide connects the collections and architecture with the cultural history of Lahore.

After lunch, continue to Delhi Gate and the extraordinary Wazir Khan Mosque, followed by the Shahi Hammam and Margala Bazaar. The day moves from grand monuments to the more intimate details of the old city: decorated surfaces, gateways and streets that still belong to everyday life. Return to Nishat Hotel for the night.

06

Mughal gardens and an unforgettable Lahore evening

Continue your exploration of Lahore with visits to the Tomb of Jahangir, the Tomb of Asif Khan and the Tomb of Noor Jahan. These visits deepen the Mughal story introduced yesterday, with time to appreciate the different settings and details under the guidance of your local expert. Continue to Shalimar Garden before the evening chapter of the day.

Travel to Wagah for the border ceremony, for a distinctive close to the afternoon. Later, dinner is at Haveli Restaurant. It is a fitting close to your time in Lahore, bringing the city’s atmosphere and hospitality into the final evening before tomorrow’s road journey to Islamabad.

07

Fortresses, salt and the heritage of Taxila

Leave Lahore in the morning for the road journey to Islamabad. Today brings together three very different visits: Rohtas Fort, Khewra Salt Mines and Taxila Museum. The contrast is part of the experience, moving between monumental defences, an unusual underground landscape and the heritage represented in the museum’s collections.

Your guide and driver coordinate the order and timing of the stops within the travel day. With several visits along the way, this is a full day on the road rather than a direct city-to-city transfer. Arrive in Islamabad, check into Serena Hotel and enjoy time to rest before the journey turns towards the mountains.

08

Fly north to the landscapes of Baltistan

Take the morning flight from Islamabad to Skardu, with an approximate flying time of one hour. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and freshen up before exploring the region. The setting changes dramatically here, introducing the high mountain landscapes that define the second half of the journey.

Visit Shigar Fort, where architecture and local history give a human perspective to the surrounding scenery. Continue to the Sarfaranga Cold Desert and spend time among its distinctive mountain-framed landscapes. Return to your accommodation in Skardu. The planned stay is at Himmel or Rivage Resort, for your two-night stay in the region.

09

The lakes and valleys around Skardu

Spend the day exploring the lakes and valleys around Skardu. Begin with Shangrila Lake before continuing to Upper Kachura Lake, allowing time to appreciate the different settings and the contrast between water, mountains and the surrounding settlements. The day is devoted to these places rather than adding another long transfer.

Continue into Soq Valley, where your guide introduces another side of the Kachura area. The pace allows for sightseeing and photography within the planned visits, with assistance wherever the walking surfaces call for a little extra care. Return to Himmel or Rivage Resort for a second night in Skardu.

10

The great road to Hunza

Check out after your stay in Skardu and begin the scenic road journey to Hunza Valley. The drive is part of the experience, with changing mountain scenery and the great corridor of the Karakoram Highway. Stop at Ashtaq Nala and the Rakaposhi Viewpoint, together with scenic valley stops along the way, for refreshments and photography.

Arrive in Hunza and transfer to Serena Hotel Hunza in the central valley. After time to settle in, spend the evening exploring the tourist street in Karimabad. This first evening introduces the local atmosphere at a gentler pace, with the surrounding mountains setting the scene for tomorrow’s visits.

11

Hunza: forts, village life and the last light

Explore central Hunza through its two signature forts, Baltit and Altit. Your guide brings their settings and histories into focus, then leads you into the oldest settlements of Altit, keeping the day connected to the people and places beyond the monuments themselves.

The day concludes with sunset at Duikar Valley, a memorable viewpoint over the surrounding landscape. There is time to appreciate the changing light and take photographs before returning to your hotel in Hunza. Your second night in the valley keeps this part of the journey anchored in the same base, allowing a more settled experience between the road days.

Upper Hunza: blue water and soaring peaks

Travel into Upper Hunza to visit Attabad Lake and the dramatic Passu Cones. Continue to Borith Lake and the Hussaini suspension bridge, discovering the contrasts of the upper valley. Your guide helps you enjoy the viewpoints and local surroundings at an appropriate pace.

The excursion to the Pakistan–China border remains optional and weather-dependent, as the mountain conditions allow. Afterwards, return to Gilgit City and settle into Serena Hotel Gilgit ahead of the following morning’s flight. This day brings together some of the most distinctive landscapes of the northern journey before your return to the capital.

Islamabad: a graceful final chapter

Take the morning flight from Gilgit to Islamabad. On arrival, continue with your guided city tour, beginning a final chapter that feels very different from the mountain valleys. Visit the Pakistan Monument and Faisal Mosque, two of the capital’s defining landmarks.

Continue to Lok Virsa Museum and Saidpur Village, bringing together cultural heritage and the character of the city’s foothill setting. Your local team coordinates the day around the arrival of the domestic flight. Return to Serena Hotel Islamabad for the final overnight stay, with time to settle in before tomorrow’s departure.

14

A personal farewell to Pakistan

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before your transfer to Islamabad International Airport. Your tour guide and driver see you off, bringing the journey to its close with the same personal coordination that welcomed you in Karachi.

Over fourteen days, the route has connected the Arabian Sea with the ancient Indus civilisation, the cultural richness of Lahore and the extraordinary landscapes of Skardu and Hunza. Depart for your home country with the memories of each chapter, from the first evening at Do Darya to the final sights of Islamabad.

Journey Planning

From coastal warmth
to mountain air.

This journey brings together two very different settings: the warmer cities and plains of southern Pakistan, and the cooler high valleys of the north. Your travel dates, clothing and daily preparation should reflect both. Comfortable walking shoes, layers and sun protection help you enjoy the full variety of the route.

Domestic flights and the optional border excursion depend on operating and weather conditions. Your Midasia team coordinates the connections around the chosen travel dates.
